Patterns Complete

With the patterns complete, it is about time to start cutting out the expensive stuff. I occasionally have visitors to the shop that ask “What is it you do?” When I tell them that I build boats, the first question is usually “for the lake?” Since the shop is right next to the lake, it is a common mistake. When I tell them I build ocean boats, they get the deer-in-the-headlights look about them. Considering the nearest salt water to me is more than 250 miles away, I usually spend the next 30 minutes to an hour explaining what I do, and why I build Wharram ocean catamarans way out here in the middle of Texas. At this point most ask about other sizes and types and it generally becomes a fairly long conversation. Lately, the cold weather has kept most visitors away, but this weekend, the weather is going to warm back up into the 60’s and 70’s. I cannot imagine what it will be like when the tourists start to come back this summer.
