Tapering

Adding the tapered edges to the keel and skeg has proven more difficult than in times past. So far, two belt sanders and four belts have been used. The first belt sander actually ate the belts as it would not keep them tracking straight. It seems the leading edge of the pressure plate was protruding about 1/8” further down than the rest of the plate, causing it to dig in and force the belt to track improperly, thereby eating belts. The second belt sander did not have this problem, but broke a belt at the glue/tape seam due to heat build-up. Let it cool. Let it cool.
